Not every gas problem is a boiler problem. A gas cooker on a rented flat needs commissioning and a Gas Safe sticker before the tenant moves in. A hob install from the kitchen fitter needs bayonet-to-hob connection by a registered engineer to keep the manufacturer warranty valid. A meter has been moved by the supplier and now the internal pipework needs upgrading. A faint gas smell in a utility cupboard needs a proper tightness test, not a bar of soap.

Why the wrong gas engineer is more dangerous than no engineer.
A meter-to-appliance run that hasn't been sized correctly starves the appliance of gas under load. The appliance runs rich, deposits soot, drifts into unsafe CO output, and the safety failure is invisible until the CO alarm goes off — or doesn't.
A tightness test skipped after opening any joint is the single most common cause of a slow gas escape being missed. The joint holds under normal pressure, fails at the peak of a cold-morning demand, and now you have a gas concentration issue you can't smell yet.
The subtle one: a cooker or hob connected by 'a mate' isn't registered on the Gas Safe database, doesn't show on your property records, and voids every landlord's compliance and every homeowner's buildings insurance. The saving on labour is measured in tens of pounds. The exposure on the claim is measured in hundreds of thousands.

How much does a gas cooker or hob installation cost?
Typically 1–2 hours at £90/hr for a straightforward bayonet or rigid-tail connection and commissioning. Priced in writing before we start where new pipework is required.
How quickly can you attend a suspected gas leak?

Can you sign off gas work done by someone else?
Only work I have carried out or witnessed personally can be signed off. What I can do is issue an independent condition report against Gas Safe standards, and quote for any remedial work needed to bring it into compliance.
Do you handle gas fires?
Yes — installation, servicing and repair of inset, hole-in-the-wall and traditional gas fires, including flue integrity checks and combustion analysis.
Do you cover commercial gas work?
Domestic gas is the main focus. Small light-commercial jobs (single appliances, offices, small hospitality) considered case-by-case; larger commercial installations aren't a fit for a single-engineer business.
